Does Messing Up Your Diet ONCE Affect Your Weight Loss Progress? - According to a Weight Loss Coach

So, what really happens when you've been successful with your diet, let's say for a few weeks or a month, and it gets to a point where you mess it up?
Maybe on that day, you eat that food you know you're not supposed to in the evening while extending watching your favourite show. And not only that, you eat a lot of it!
Maybe you went on holiday and you came across a lot of foods that you FEEL are bad for your weight loss but you couldn't keep yourself from eating for this or that reason. And you ate. And ate. Aaand ate. And ate!
Maybe you were down, lonely, and looking to fit in with a group of friends you constantly questioned yourself whether you should be with. And so you drank or took something that you know deep down is bad for you, not only for your weight but also your health and long-term well-being.
So, in all these instances, what really happens when you've been successfully following your diet for a while and then you mess it up ONCE or for a few days over the holiday season?
Well, NOTHING.
Nothing happens.
Nothing changes.
Your blood sugar doesn't become "dangerous".
Your progress isn't stopped let alone delayed.
The mistake YOU make at this point is thinking that just because you've fallen along your journey to your dream body, that now you've messed up all your progress.
You feel bad. Ashamed. Embarrassed. Hate even.
And because of this, you give it all up, say, "Now that I've messed this meal up, and today is Friday, let me just take the weekend off and start again on Monday," or, worse, "Now that I've already messed up my diet and December holidays are almost here, let me just eat vizuri sasa, I will get serious with my weight loss come Next Year."
Sounds familiar?
And this is where the problem starts.
Not that a diet or exercise regimen wasn't working for you.
Not that because you messed up once or for a few days all your weight came back.
But because you messed up and then proceeded to convince yourself that you should just mess up really good for the time being until you start, "Next Monday/Next week/Next month/Next year."
And guess what happens, the Monday or week you are to start keeps getting renewed.
Until you have several episodes of restarting. With you believing, all this time, that it was hard, or that it doesn't work for you, or that you lack motivation or this or that.
Think of it;

Do you understand?
So yeah you feel bad you've eaten or drank that thing you FEEL you shouldn't have.
But that's good.
Because you feel you've betrayed YOURSELF.
You feel you've betrayed your goals and your future self.
Which means YOU CARE.
Not just about anything, but about YOU WINNING.
That's something!
So just get up and keep going to show intent that you want to become that person you really wish you could become.
Because it probably wasn't a big deal and your progress didn't get affected maybe even at all!
Your journey to your dream body IS a journey. Always remember that. If you fall alongt the way, it doesn't mean you've fallen all the way to the start. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and keep going!
